Dave Lumley and Glenys Thompson are joint owners of Northern Boat Surveys Ltd. They were born and bred in Hartlepool. They love the town because it is so close to the sea and still live and work there.

Dave conducts the surveys and Glenys does all the business administration. They have a wealth of boating experience between them, spanning over 20 years. Actually it was on the diesel berth at Hartlepool Marina that they first met.

They have both worked as commercial skippers. Dave on motor vessels and Glenys on yachts and they both have their RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificates.

They were very keen scuba divers and have been on expeditions all over the world. Their favourite wreck sites are; the Southern Red Sea and Scappa Flow in the Orkney Islands . These days however what interests them the most is deep sea fishing and it seems that all their recent holidays have been planned to coincide with marlin season.
